Hi, Everyone! How are you today? I hope you all are having a great start to the week.

The question of this week's Chatterbox is: What is your favorite quote?(あなたの好きな引用<名言>は何?)This is another question from "CHAT DIARY".

Well, one of my favorite quotes is "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity". This is a quote by the Roman philosopher, Seneca. Actually, I don't know anything about him, but when I first saw this quote, I thought this was so true. In order to seize a chance, we have to be prepared. If we aren't, we miss the chance or can't even notice that it's a chance. Louis Pasteur, the famous French biologist, also said, "Luck prefers the prepared mind".

To the contrary, I don't like the Japanese word TANABOTA (Tana kara Botamochi) very much. LOL! It is "a sweet rice cake fell from the shelf into the mouth of the person sleeping under the shelf" in English, which means "a total fluke". I would like to work hard and be prepared in order to grab as many opportunities as possible in my life, rather than just wait for TANABOTA.

What is your favorite quote? Either English or Japanese is okay.

Have a great week and I look forward to your answers! :)

Romy
